Latchford Albion 16 Walney Central 26

A BELOW-PAR performance saw Latchford Albion slip to a disappointing home defeat as they failed to build on their opening-day victory.

In poor conditions at Victoria Park, Lee Smith’s side had made the better start as George Briggs dummied his way over before the visitors equalised before the break.

Walney improved after the break and managed to score three converted tries to take the game away from Latchford.

Sean Boyle and Owen Nugent crossed late on for the hosts, but they proved to be merely consolation efforts.

Smith’s side are on the road on Saturday as they travel to Halton Simms Cross, kick off 2.30pm.
