THERE is no stopping Warrington Athletics Club’s race queen Harriet Knowles-Jones.

The European junior champion from Lymm remains unbeaten in the English National Cross Country Championships for four years after winning the under 20s title for the third time on Saturday.

The 19-year-old, who was also the under 17s champion at the same Parliament Hill Fields venue in 2015, left rivals in her wake as she stormed home by a record 69 seconds margin on the 6km course, crossing the line in 24mins 07secs.

It continues a perfect start to the year for Knowles-Jones, who was first in her age group at the BUCS Championships earlier in the month and at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country International in January.

She had company from three clubmates in London.

Behind Harriet, Katie Lowery was 22nd in her first year in the under 20s age group in 26mins 38secs and Lauren Ferris was 51st in 28mins 27secs, leaving the trio fourth in the team competition.

In the under 13s girls’ race Eva Ferris was 307th in 15mins 30secs.

The following day, Warrington AC’s Ashley Nemits won a bronze medal in the English Age Group Indoor Championships 200m.

The under 15s rising star won her heat in 25.91secs to take one hundredth of a second off the personal best she set in the Northern Championships.

In finishing second in her semi-final Nemits smashed her best with 25.72 seconds, moving her to fourth in the UK rankings for her age group.

Her 25.76secs in her third race of the day sealed bronze in a tight finish, with Glasgow’s Alyson Bell taking the title in 25.45secs and Doncaster’s Ava Jones finishing second in 25.64secs.
