Eagle 29 Oxton 11
DESPITE a poor start, Eagle showed good powers of recovery to record an ultimately convincing victory.
Visitors Oxton roared into an early lead at Thornton Road before Neil Smith was sin-binned for the hosts, but that seemed to galvanise his side.
Ash Losh crashed over from Danny Cahill’s pass before an excellent backs move saw Will Wear score in the corner.
Smith returned to put Jack Bainczyk between the posts, with Kieron Thomas’ conversion giving Eagle a 17-8 lead at the interval.
Oxton kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit after the break, but Thomas got a converted try of his own before skipper Simon Counsell added the final score, forcing his way over having taken the ball from the back of a ruck.
