WARRINGTON Rowing Club’s Head of the Mersey on Sunday was a success despite extreme conditions from sunshine to hail.
More than 200 rowers from 19 clubs across the north of England competed in 78 crews although, due to the harsh conditions, some junior events had to be cancelled for safety issues.
Warrington won seven events, including the junior boys quad which achieved fastest time of the day.
Lucy Glover, a former Lymm High School pupil who is studying at Edinburgh University, impressed in the third winter assessment for the Great Britain rowing team at Boston on Saturday.
She contested the women’s single scull and was best under 23 (and under 20) in the field.
