WITH Lymm almost halfway through their season, head coach Adam Fletcher says things could not be more different to this time last year.
Despite seeing their game at Ilkley postponed due to the wintry weather on Saturday, the Crouchley Lane outfit remain second in the Northern Premier having lost only one game this campaign.
Their only league defeat came at the hands of leaders Preston Grasshoppers, who remain unbeaten and are nine points clear at the summit.
However, Fletcher insists promotion is still a major possibility for his side.
“This time last season, we had over 20 players out with injury and were lying below mid-table in the league,” he said.
“So far this season, we have only had a few light injury problems.
“Will Baldwin is the most serious one with a chipped ankle bone from the game at Hull in September.
“He is making good progress and hopes to be back in training in the new year.
“We lie second in the table behind Preston Grasshoppers and are still targeting a promotion to level four as our goal.”
It has been a successful first half of the season throughout the club, with the second XV and both colts teams topping their leagues.
Fletcher says this means a bright future for the club as they move into 2018.
“An important factor is the performance of our second XV who top the Cotton Traders Championship League,” he said.
“This, and the fact that both our junior under 17 and senior under 18 Colts top their respective Halbro Colts Premiership Leagues, provides a bright future for the club.
“I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.”
Weather permitting, Lymm play their final game before Christmas on Saturday when they travel to Billingham, kick off 2.15pm.
