Vale of Lune 2nd 32 Lymm 2nd 27
FOR the first time this campaign, Lymm’s seconds were on the wrong end of a scoreline.
They came up short against fellow high-flyers Vale of Lune despite leading for much of the game and scoring the same amount of tries as their hosts.
Richard Halford was key early on when Lymm took the initiative after starting the game on the back foot.
His powerful run towards the Vale line lead to him putting Josh Hamer over for an unconverted score.
Halford again made good ground after excellent scrummaging from the forwards before setting up Jorge Reynolds for a try converted by Rhys Jones.
The hosts got on the board to reduce the lead to five points, but Tom Baker’s offload found the supporting Will Titherington to put Lymm back in command.
However, a converted try and two penalties either side of the break ensured a three-point lead for the hosts.
Rhys Jones’ penalty kick levelled matters before Vale crossed again, but Aaron Rasheed’s effort looked like giving Lymm the victory.
However, Vale scored with just seven minutes left to snatch the spoils.
