WARRINGTON’S men’s teams had a successful weekend as both senior sides won their fixtures.

The firsts were particularly impressive as they plundered eight goals without reply against Blackpool’s seconds at Priestley College on Saturday.

Ben Vickers was the main protagonist as he smashed five goals, benefitting from excellent link-up play from Noel Phillpotts and Scott Reed.

Rob Powell’s stunning strike added to the scoreline, with Matt Petitt and Adam Garrod also netting to complete the rout.

The seconds had a much tougher game at Winnington Park’s fourths but came from behind to record a 2-1 victory.

Gavin Brown’s strike from a tight angle equalised before the break and several saves from goalkeeper Rhydian Burtson kept the scores level after it.

Burtson’s stops meant Rich Hannibal’s short-corner goal proved decisive.

The firsts are away at Blackburn Northern’s seconds on Saturday, push back 3.30pm, while the seconds host Deeside Ramblers’ seventh team, push back 2.15pm.

Saturday also sees the women’s firsts host a ‘derby’ clash with Lymm’s seconds at Priestley College, push back 12.45pm, while the seconds travel to Lymm’s thirds, push back 3.30pm.
