YOUNG cyclists from North Cheshire Clarion got themselves among the podium places in this season’s North West Youth League.

Lottie Kilroy and Seb Grindley led the way with silver medals, while three more of Clarion’s dozen competitors collected bronze in an event designed to challenge skills of riders from around the region across different disciplines.

The league campaign, which has just finished after starting in April, incorporated three circuit road races and as many off-road races in mountain biking, cyclocross and cycle speedway.

Clarion’s Elaine Kilroy, who recently qualified as a British Cycling level two coach, said: “This year has been a fabulous league, with so many of our riders taking part in racing and some great achievements.

“We’re extremely proud of all our riders and their achievements.”

Nine-year-old Kilroy’s silver came in the under 10s girls’ competition, while 11-year-old Grindley’s was in the under 12s boys.
