MARTIN Maxfield clinched the player of the year crown on Warrington and North Cheshire Bows Association’s finals day.

Two chalks on the final end resulted in a 21-20 win against Phil Boydell in the game of the day at St Oswalds, with the green running well despite the deluge of rain at the start of the event.

Maxfield qualified with a 21-17 success against Jason Lockett in the semi finals.

Graham Cowell took the honours in the Warrington Public Parks’ showdown.

Damian Morrison, meanwhile, sealed the Cunningham Cup for the fourth successive year, this time ending the hopes of Liam McEgan 21-14 in the decider.

St Oswalds A lifted the Centenary Trophy on Friday.

The Padgate outfit were too strong for Vulcan at Croft and came out on top 168-124 after winning each of the eight games.
