BEN Vickers kept up his superb scoring form as Warrington Hockey Club men’s first team recorded another victory.

Despite playing with 10 men throughout, the team showed effort and determination to come from 3-2 down to record a 4-3 win over West Derby.

Vickers, who scored all five of Warrington’s goals in last week’s cup win over Fylde, was in red-hot form again as he scored a hat-trick.

Adam Garrod scored Warrington’s other goal to give them the perfect start in Division Four North of the North West Hockey League.

The seconds face a ‘derby’ match against Lymm’s thirds and emerged with a comfortable 3-0 win.

Gavin Brown’s cool finish put Warrington ahead before Rich Hannibal produced a sublime piece of skill on the counter-attack to double the advantage.

After Mark Hooper had made a goal-line clearance to preserve Warrington’s clean sheet, Chris Ashworth finished off an impressive team move to score the final goal.

The firsts are at home on Saturday as they welcome Keswick’s seconds to Priestley College, push back 2.15pm.

The seconds are on the road in the North West Hockey League Division Eight South West as they travel to Whitchurch, push back 2pm.

The women’s second team earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Wilmslow’s thirds after taking the lead when Molly Rudd’s short corner strike was deflected in by Vicky Stout.

Warrington showed strong defence, but Wilmslow equalised with 10 minutes remaining to ensure a share of the spoils.

The first team went down to a 4-2 defeat to Chester despite two equalising goals from skipper Louise Unsworth.

Unsworth’s first goal came from a short corner routine and her second came via Sarah Gregson’s pass, but Chester found their way into the lead again before catching Warrington on the break as they pushed for a third equaliser.

In Saturday’s fixtures, the firsts are at home to Alderley Edge’s thirds, who sit bottom of the Cheshire Women’s Hockey League Division One, push back 12pm.

The seconds are also in action as they Whitchurch’s thirds, push back 12.30pm.
