Sandal 5 Lymm 46

A DOMINANT display at Sandal allowed Lymm to continue their perfect start to the new Northern Premier season and go top of the table.

Full-back Cormac Nolan scored 21 points, including a try, five conversions and two penalties, as Adam Fletcher’s side controlled the game throughout.

James Kimber, Andy Davies and Richard McEvoy crossed before the break, with Gav Woods and Joe Denman adding tries late on.

Fletcher said after the game: “An outstanding performance resulting in six tries, but we’re not the finished article yet.”

After winning an early lineout, Lymm went through the hands to put Kimber over for the game’s opening try before another impressive move led to Davies skipping between the posts.

A surging run from Oli Higginson saw the ball moved left for McEvoy to score before Nolan’s penalty completed the first-half scoring, with Lymm 22-0 to the good.

Sandal got their only points of the game just after the break with an unconverted try before Lymm’s dominance of the game resumed.

After more good work from the forwards, Nolan touched down in the right corner before adding another penalty to his growing personal account.

Woods, who was patched up after an earlier injury, produced some superb sidesteps to get his name on the scoresheet as the points were rubber-stamped.

Shortly before the referee called time on the game, Denman put an exclamation point on the victory as Fletcher’s side made it three wins out of three.

Lymm are now three points clear at the top of the league and welcome Wirral to Crouchley Lane on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

DESPITE starting with just 14 players, Lymm’s seconds maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign.

After bravely keeping their visitors out when they were a man down, Aaron Rasheed and Luke Critchley both crossed to put Lymm in control.

Rasheed and Jack Worton crossed after the break to seal victory as Lymm repelled a late comeback, with Tom Shard kicking three conversions and two penalties.
