EAGLE Sports fell at the first hurdle as they fell to a penalty shoot-out defeat in the LCFA Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Their clash with West Lancashire Premier Division side Southport Hesketh finished 1-1 after Daniel Burthem’s first-half opener was for the hosts was cancelled out.

Rob Hope’s side then fell 3-1 in the shoot-out.

Greenalls PSO had better luck as they edged a seven-goal thriller against West Cheshire League Division One outfit Redgate Rovers.

Lewis Morgans scored twice for Greens in their 4-3 win, with George Farelly and Ellis Houghton also on target.

Rylands were in league action and continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw with reigning Cheshire League Premier Division champions Whaley Bridge.

However, manager Darren Davies felt his side were unfortunate not to take all three points at Gorsey Lane after Przemek Staniszewski’s 17th-minute opener was cancelled out.

“You need a bit of luck to beat a team of Whaley Bridge’s quality and unfortunately we didn’t get any,” he said.

“The goal we conceded was really disappointing but the response from the lads was brilliant. We were more than deserving of taking all three points.”

In League Two, Moore United pulled off an impressive 3-0 away win at Cuddington.

Matty Arnold’s penalty gave them a 1-0 lead at the break before second-half goals from Jordan Rudge and Aron McGrath sealed their victory.

In the same division, Orford came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Winstanley Warriors, while Grappenhall Sports were beaten 5-1 at Egerton in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup.
