HARRIET Knowles-Jones has ended her final international tournament as a junior athlete in medal-winning fashion.
The Lymm middle-distance runner, 19, won bronze in the 1500m at the European under 20s Championships in Grosseto, Italy, this afternoon.
The Warrington Athletics Club star completed the race in 4mins 17.53secs, just over two seconds shy of her personal best over the distance.
Jemma Reekie, Knowles-Jones’ Great Britain teammate, took gold while Bulgaria’s Liliana Georgieva won the silver medal.
“I had some problems, my legs were a little bit tight,” Knowles-Jones said after the race.
“All my opponents, Reekie in particular, were very good indeed.
“My parents have been watching the race, I'm always so happy to receive their support in these international events.”
