ONE of Warrington’s most consistent performers on bowls greens recently won the Isle of Man Festival women’s singles.
Alford Hall’s Karen Galvin defeated Shropshire’s Louise Cotton 21-12 with a stunning display of corner to corner bowling to lift the title for the third time.
Galvin, from Woolston, went into the decider as odds-on favourite after showing top form throughout the event.
She ended the hopes of Manx players in the previous two rounds.
Philippa Taylor was knocked out 21-17 in the semi finals, while Helen Martin was crushed 21-6 in the last eight.
Galvin, who collected a £1,000 prize, will hope to reproduce similar form in the women’s Waterloo later this season.
She has won that title on four occasions and has claimed the Champions of Champions title three times.
