WARRINGTON lost to Leeds B on overall aggregate in the opening Federation match of the season.

With the game tied 14-14, the four points for the overall aggregate went to Leeds B.

Warrington started well at The Tetleys Club with four winners in the first five blocks.

Notable victors were Danny Woodward, 21-6, and Kevin Wainwright, 21-10.

However, the team seemed to struggle after that and only picked up one more winner in the shape of Steve Gilfedder, 21-20.

The away team put in a top-class performance at Tadcaster, picking up seven winners.

David Twigg, singled out by captain Alex Heeps as playing exceptionally well, seemed to relish the occasion and won 21-16.

Chris Goodhand also took his very good league form into the match and his accurate bowling won him his game 21-14.

Red Lion bowler and Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association secretary Ron Jones was a late replacement and did not let the town down by just losing a thrilling encounter, 21-20.

Other victories for Warrington in Tadcaster came from Carl Armitage, Kyle Chapman, Neil Dolan, Phil Davies and Matt Humphrys.

Arguably the hardest match of their group will come against Bradford on Sunday, June, 25.
