FOUR riders from the Warrington-based North Cheshire Clarion Cycling Club headed across the Irish Sea to take on some of the country’s best young cyclists.

Riders descended on the Isle of Man to take part in the second round of the British Cycling National Youth Circuit Series.

Appleton Thorn Primary School pupil Seb Grindley, 11, finished fourth in the under 12s category after placing well in all three stages of the three-day event.

Despite crashing on the second stage, 14-year-old Lachlan Hacker, a Lymm High School student, recovered and competed well for the rest of the race to finish 18th.

Lizzy Grindley, 9, and 11-year-old Euan Hacker also travelled for the competition and represented the club superbly in their respective age groups.
