WARRINGTON-based boxer Martin Murray tops the bill in Liverpool on Saturday night when he takes on Gabriel Rosado in what could be a make or break fight.

After a short spell at super-middleweight, which included a failed attempt at the world crown in that division, Murray has dropped back down to middleweight for this showdown with the tough Philadelphian at the Echo Arena.

The 34-year-old still holds a burning desire to finally win a world title after a total of four unsuccessful attempts at middle and super-middleweight.

After a draw against Felix Sturm, a controversial defeat in Argentina versus Sergio Martinez and an 11th round defeat by the invincible Gennady Golovkin Murray moved up a division.

But after a split decision defeat against champion Arthur Abraham, Murray has dropped backed down to 160lb.

However, Murray needs to win on Saturday night, in a bout that is being billed as a war, to realistically keep the door open on that big ambition.

Murray said: “I know that I still have a world title in me.

“Rosado is a quality fighter and I don’t think his record does him justice.

“He’ll go anywhere and fight anybody and he’s been in with all the top guys. He’s tough and comes to fight, and that’s my style too, so that’s why I am excited about it and the fans are too because there’s no way that our styles won’t gel. It’s going to be a war.

“People have always written me off.

“I’m flying in the gym and I believe I am a level above him and it will tell on the night.”
