LIKE mother, like son!

While Cinnamon Brow’s Louise Blizzard is gearing up for her 23rd London Marathon on Sunday, her six-year-old son Alfie is showing the appetite for perhaps tackling the event himself one day.

Louise, 41, has pounded the 26.2 miles in the capital each April since 1994 – apart from the year Alfie was born.

Now Alfie is proving to be a talented athlete too despite his tender years.

“Alfie loves his running so much and has just taken part in his 59th Warrington junior park run this week,” said the forensic scientist.

He stretched out his little legs to a personal best 10mins 2secs for Saturday’s 2km run.

Louise, who has twice won the UK Marathon Championship with the Belgrave Harriers team she has represented since the time she lived down south for 10 years, will tackle London with a specific aim.

“I struggled with a hip injury and Achilles for the first two months of this year so I’m just hoping I can get to the finish pain free and enjoy it this year,” said Louise, who stated her gratitude for permission to train at Padgate Campus to get her fitness back.

“I have been very lucky to qualify each year in the elite women’s race and my personal best is 2hrs 54mins.

“It’s an honour to go back each year. I love the race so much and am so proud to be running the London Marathon for the 23rd time.”
