Rochdale 45 Warrington 34

WARRINGTON coach Andy Roberts claims Saturday's defeat to lowly Rochdale was his side's "poorest performance of the season."

The reverse stopped the visitors from a fourth win in a row in what was their final away game of the North One West season.

"This must rate as one of our poorest performances of the season," Roberts said.

"It probably once again demonstrates that will-to-win often separates sides. We are safely lodged in mid-table while Rochdale had to win today to be certain of avoiding relegation."

Warrington took the lead when Tom Arnold breezed over, but Josh Schofield beat three defenders to score for the hosts, with Oli Coldman's conversion nudging them ahead.

Guilerme Sousa barged across to extend Rochdale's lead, but Pat Roberts' penalty for the visitors brought the deficit back to four points.

However, Schofield and Souza both scored their second tries to give the hosts a 26-8 lead at the interval.

Schofield completed his hat-trick just after the break, but consolation arrived five minutes later when Tom Wood dummied his way over the line and Roberts added the extras.

Nathan Beesley then finished off a fine move involving Josh Downes and Phil Lynch as the visitors threatened a comeback.

However, that idea was scotched as poor tackling allowed Rochdale to cross twice more to all but seal victory.

Warrington did have the last laugh as Tom Green crossed before Arnold was put over for his second, but they were second-best on the day.

Roberts' side, who sit sixth in the table, wrap up their season by welcoming relegated West Park to Walton Lea Road on Saturday, April 22, kick off 3pm.

Warrington 2nd 32 Macclesfield 3rd 19

WARRINGTON’S seconds recorded a superb victory over Macclesfield’s high-flying thirds on Saturday.

Jon Ward was driven over for the first half’s only try, with Macclesfield replying with two penalties before the break.

In the second half, Warrington’s youth won through as Sam Nichols crossed twice, with Dan Griffiths and Tony Fretwell also crossing.

Griffiths converted three of Warrington’s second half tries.

Bowdon 2nd 45 Warrington 3rd 5

AN understrength Warrington side was no match for the experience and strength of Bowdon’s seconds.

They leaked six tries but managed to score the game’s best try when Keenan O’Toole crossed in the corner.
