PHOENIX Fire Boxing Club had three boxers competing at the Merseyside and Cheshire Elite Championships and all three emerged with great credit.
In his first year as an Elite fighter, Casey Brown, 18, won the welterweight championship by beating Seacombe’s Lewis Mollineux on points.
Four of the five judges gave Brown the victory, but the other two Phoenix boxers were on the wrong side of decisions.
In his flyweight final, 18-year-old Imad Nasseb faced Great Britain international Blaine Hyland, who was six years his senior, and was beaten by unanimous decision.
Light-welterweight Courtney Chadwick beat Everton Red Triangle’s Jack McKinley in the first round.
However, he fell on a split decision to Knowsley Vale’s Tom Aitchison in his next bout.
