STEPHEN Ellison has caught the motorsports bug again.

The 52-year-old and his 56-year-old navigator Mark Carter will be tackling the Anglesey Circuit on Sunday.

This comes a fortnight after finishing 29th overall and ninth in class in the Lee Holland Memorial Rally over eight tarmac stages on the same track.

But it all started for them around 30 years ago.

The Warrington and District Motor Club members, who both drive for a living, competed in the mid 1980s at the Antrobus Raceway, before going off in different directions.

Ellison, a HGV driver for Buildbase/Hirebase at their Warrington, Northwich and Nantwich branches, explained his background with Carter, a taxi driver in the Warrington area.

"Mark progressed to road rallying and stage rallies for the past six years," said Ellison.

"For me, after 1986 I went into restoring old military vehicles.

"That was until last year.

"After a 30-year break I built myself this group 4 mk2 Ford Escort and now we are enjoying entering rallies around the north west and Wales.

"We're having great fun."
