WARRINGTON Hockey Club’s women’s second team secured a hard-fought 4-2 victory at Winnington Park’s seconds on Saturday.
Molly Rudd’s double gave them a two-goal lead at the break before Tammy Finlayson and Vicky Stout extended the advantage after the interval.
The hosts fought back late on, but Warrington remained calm to record another crucial victory in their fight to gain promotion.
They remain second in Division Four of the Cheshire Women’s Hockey League ahead of their final game of the season against Lymm’s fifths on Saturday, push back 12.45pm.
Elsewhere, the women’s firsts secured their survival in Division One despite a 3-0 defeat to Winnington Park’s firsts.
Neston, the team directly below them, failed to win and that guarantees Warrington will finish outside the relegation places. They travel to Lymm’s seconds on Saturday, push back 12.15pm.
The men’s first team were beaten 3-2 at Bolton’s seconds, while the men’s seconds also fell short in a 2-0 defeat against Bolton’s thirds.
The firsts, currently sixth in North West Hockey League Division Four North, host Southport’s seconds on Saturday, push back 2.15pm, while the seconds travel to Salford University’s firsts.
All four teams play their final games of the season on Saturday.
