Lymm 2nd 20 Firwood Waterloo 2nd 24
A YOUNG Lymm side were edged out by a converted Waterloo try in the final few minutes.
Two tries from Matty Hands, the first from good distribution by Zac Lythgoe and the second – which was converted by strong-running Josh Davies on his debut – after Oli Askew had been held up over the line, gave Lymm a 12-3 advantage.
Waterloo responded with two tries before a switch move involving Ben Salisbury allowed Davies to power home for 17-17 at the break.
A Lymm try was prevented when Jorge Reynolds was bundled into touch and other chances were missed through lack of composure.
Davies kicked a penalty but with three minutes remaining Waterloo forced their way over from close range.
