Latchford Albion 14 Hindley 44
A LATE surge from a strong Hindley side ensured Latchford Albion’s first home game of the new season ended in defeat.
Lee Smith’s side were behind by just six points going into the final 20 minutes of this North West Men’s League Premier Division encounter, but their visitors cantered away late on at Victoria Park Stadium.
After two early tries for the visitors, Latchford got themselves on the board when Chris Griffiths jinked through to score between the posts.
Another Hindley try kept Albion at arms’ length at the break, but a superb start to the second half saw George Briggs go over twice to narrow the gap to just six points, but that was as good as it got for Albion.
They travel to Orrell St James A on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
