WARRINGTON Dolphins Long Distance Swimming Club welcomed competitors of all ages from across the north west to their annual 1500m Open Indoor Championships.

Swimmers with ages ranging from eight to 77 competed at the Orford Jubilee Hub and Dolphins members were in fine form, taking first place in six of the eight events.

Mark Jones scooped the senior male freestyle championship while Aynsley Dowding, competing in his first event for the club, won the senior male breaststroke.

Chris Carter was also a winner, finishing in a share of first place with Barrow’s Bev Thomas in the Handicap Championship.

In the junior section, 10-year-old Joe Lewis stopped the clock first in the junior 800m event, while Beth Dowding and John Lewis, both aged 14, won the 1500m junior championship.
