BRIDGEWATER High School student Sam Evans was among the medals again at the weekend.

The former Warrington Athletics Club runner finished third in the under 15s race at the Northern Cross Country Championships at Knowsley Safari Park.

Evans, representing Vale Royal, has had a fine start to 2017 having won the Cheshire title in the same age group at Birchwood on January 7.

Clubmate Rebecca Nixon, also from Warrington, was 148th in the under 13s girls’ race.

Cheshire champion Daniel Cliffe, who also hails from Warrington and now competes for Liverpool Harriers, came home 24th in the senior men’s race on Saturday.

Warrington’s other clubs also had representation in the senior races at Knowsley.

For Lymm Runners, Jonathon Smith was 12th and Stuart Berry 316th.

Tom Greaves was 246th over the line in the colours of Warrington Road Runners.

The Warrington Running Club team of Jack Antrobus, 249th, Alexander Lewis, 259th, Kye Byrne, 370th, Nigel Taylor, 426th, Paul Corless, 481st, and Nick Rose, 496th, placed 39th.

In the women’s event, the Lymm Runners team of Germaine Holmes, 190th, Georgina Walker, 215th, Lisa Fothergill, 306th, and Mary Burton, 315th, registered 41st.

Bobbie Lomax was first home for Warrington Running Club in 113th, while Liz Whitfield was first for Spectrum Striders in 130th.
