EAGLE Sports racked up another impressive win over a side riding high in the Cheshire League Premier Division on Saturday, but it came at a cost.

A second-half penalty from Gareth Williams earned Mark Boardman’s side a 1-0 victory at Altrincham reserves, following up their 4-2 win over Wythenshawe Town on January 7.

The result moved them up to 12th, six points clear of the relegation places, but they lost Ryan Bishop during the game to a broken leg.

Eagle’s win moved them above neighbours Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds, who were beaten 4-1 at Crewe FC with Gavin Horner scoring their goal in the second half.

Rylands surrendered their unbeaten away record as they were beaten by a goal in either half in their 2-0 defeat to title-chasing Linotype Cheadle.

Meanwhile, in League One, Warrington Town Reserves’ lead at the top has been wiped out after they lost 3-2 at title rivals Billinge.

Steve Hayes’ men led at half time thanks to Rhys Bowers’ double, but their defeat means they now lead Pilkington on goal difference along with Billinge, who are a further point behind.

Elsewhere in League One, Daten played out a goalless draw with FC St Helens, while Grappenhall Sports made it two ties in a row with a 1-1 draw at West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves.

League Two saw Moore United pull off an impressive win against Cuddington, with Sam Chaddock and doubles from Matthew Arnold and Joe Holt helping them to a 5-1 victory.

Neighbours and fellow League Two outfit Orford made it through to the quarter finals of the Northern Cup as goals from Liam Moran and Danny Hutchins sealed a 2-1 win over AFC Scholes.
