CHESHIRE Wire’s under 14s Green side surrendered a half-time lead as they were beaten 49-37 by Manchester Giants White.

Wire had already lost both their meetings with the Giants this season but were hoping home court advantage at Birchwood Leisure Centre would change that.

It started promisingly, with the hosts leading 10-6 at the end of the first quarter and 22-11 after the second.

However, after Finley Harrison was fouled out of the game, Wire’s defence took a turn for the worse as the visitors took control.

Despite Adam Chedd’s brilliant three-pointer, the Giants were able to claim victory.

The under 14s White side also came up short against the Giants’ Green side, who put in a superb display to take a 72-34 victory.

Wire displayed resilience in the final quarter, but it was not enough to secure victory despite securing 30 rebounds and 10 steals.

The MVP award went to Zak Williams, who was supported well by top scorers Fraser Forde and Erin Uzunali.

Meanwhile, the under 16s teams had more luck as the Green side beat West Lancashire Warriors 79-52, while the White squad pulled off a 77-70 win over Manchester Magic II.
