WARRINGTON is a host town from today for the Australian junior women's handball team, who feature a player with links to the town.

The Aussies, who will be based at The Peace Centre during their 10-day stay, will be playing England and Scotland in a three-nations tournament this weekend.

While the England under 18s girls’ squad for the event includes Warrington Wolves players Lauren Hood, Brooke Partington and Molly Clark, the visitors’ ranks include Mille Loftus.

Mille is the daughter of 63-year-old former Culcheth High School teacher, Warrington Schoolboys rugby league coach and 1985-86 grade one referee Mike Loftus, who emigrated to Australia and now lives in Brisbane.

The tourists will be hosted by several clubs during their stay for training, matches and school visits.

The three-nations tournament is scheduled to take place at IM Marsh Campus in Liverpool on Saturday and Sunday.
