CHESHIRE Wire Basketball Club sides return to action on Saturday after a break for Christmas and new year festivities.

Both of the under 16s teams face tricky tests as they tip-off for the first time in 2017.

The National Basketball League North Premier team, currently sixth with a record of seven wins and two losses, visit table toppers Sheffield Junior Sharks, who have lost only once in 11 outings.

Cheshire Wire Green also face league-leading opposition when they make the journey to Lancashire Spinners Bury in the under 16s boys' North West section.

The Spinners are another outfit to have lost only once so far, while Green will be seeking their ninth win in 13 appearances.

Under 14s boys' matches are also scheduled at Ellesmere Port, with Cheshire Wire Green to face fifth-placed Cheshire Phoenix Juniors in North West One, while Cheshire Wire White will tackle Phoenix's fifth-placed second string in North West Two.

Green are currently fourth with seven wins from 12, while White are sixth with two wins from 11.
