IT'S Christmas Day! Compliments of the season to everyone from all of us here at the Warrington Guardian sports desk!
Before we sit down and stuff our faces with turkey, we're cracking on with our top 10 sporting moments and number seven is one from the local rugby scene.
7. RUGBY LEAGUE: Crosfields secure title with late drama:
IT may not have had the glamour of a Super League tie, but this was probably the stand-out moment for the town's amateur rugby league scene in 2016.
A victory for hosts Crosfields would secure the National Conference League Division Three crown, but visitors Woolston had to win to take the race to the season’s final day.
In a topsy-turvy game, Soap skipper Jack Reid crossed for a last-gasp winning try to secure a return to Division Two for Tony Benson’s side.
Rovers pushed them all the way but had to settle for a place in the play-offs for the second season running, where they would go on to lose to Drighlington in the final.
