WITH the weather forecast looking distinctly better than last week, some of Warrington’s football teams will be hoping to play their first game for several weeks on Saturday on a packed afternoon of action.

Warrington Town will be hoping to make the jump into the Evo-Stik Premier Division’s play-off places and move further towards the consistent run of results that has so far eluded them this season.

They travel across the Pennines to take on struggling Frickley Athletic, kick off 3pm.

Closer to home, the Warrington Guardian Cup takes centre stage, with Rylands and Eagle Sports both entertaining opposition from the Warrington and District Football League.

Darren Davies’ side welcome The Village to Gorsey Lane, while Eagle are set to be in action for the first time since November 5 when they face Sankey Vale at Thornton Road, with both games kicking off at 2pm.

Greenalls PSO also have not played since Bonfire Night and they are set to be in Cheshire Premier Division action, hosting Congleton Vale at 2pm.

The cup also takes centre stage in Cheshire League One, with leaders Warrington Town reserves travelling to Halebank in the JA Walton Challenge Cup.

Daten host Clock Face in the Guardian Cup, while Grappenhall Sports visit Poynton in the CCFA Amateur Cup Third Round.

League Two side Orford are also in JA Walton Challenge Cup action when they visit West Didsbury and Chorlton reserves.
