EXCITING Warrington light welterweight prospect Danny Craven makes his professional debut at Bowlers Arena in Manchester tomorrow, Friday.

The decorated amateur, who boxed out of Hook and Jab ABC on Palantine Industrial Estate, was a member of the Great Britain elite performance squad before joining the paid ranks and has linked up with Heywood’s Kieran Farrell.

Craven, who has been sparring with the likes of former WBA world lightweight champion Anthony Crolla, can not wait to get into the ring.

“I’m really looking forward to my pro debut,” he said.

“The boxing fans watching will see something new, fresh, exciting and a bit different from myself.

“It really does mean a lot to me as I’ve come a long way to get to this stage. I’ve wanted to be a pro since I was a young boy and I really will make the most of my debut.”

Craven appears to have found the adjustment to being professional a comfortable one.

“The transition has been really good to be honest,” said Craven.

“I wanted to turn pro a few years ago but I just didn’t feel it was the right time.

“However I took my time to perfect my mind craft and my skills and now I’m ready to go.”

Heywood’s former Central Area lightweight champion Farrell, who manages, trains and promotes Craven, is impressed by the Warringtonian.

“Danny is a top kid who’s really got the potential to go far in this game,” said Farrell, who retired as a fighter in 2013 after suffering brain damage in a defeat to Crolla.

“He’s been sparring in the highest class and holding his own every time. I won’t be hanging around with Danny, he will be in real fights from the get go!”

Craven elaborated on his relationship with former English title challenger Farrell.

“Training with Kieran has been an absolute pleasure,” he said.

“He’s definitely taught me a lot in the past few months and everything has come together nicely. I feel Kieran can make something special of me but only time will tell.”

Craven debuts on a stacked card at Bowlers Arena, with ticket prices from £20.

Also due to be in action is fellow Warrington pro Nathan ‘The Wire’ Wheatley, a 27-year-old middleweight from Padgate.
