Malpas 1 Rylands 1.

IN one of the few Cheshire League game’s that survived the weekend’s adverse weather, Rylands defied two red cards to secure a draw away at Malpas in their Premier Division clash.

Already missing regular goalkeeper Conor Yarwood as well as Mark Keddie and Jon Dawson, stand-in keeper Craig Purnell was dismissed early on for a second bookable offence that led to a penalty for the hosts.

However, substitute stopper David French saved the spot-kick with his legs before Malpas were reduced to ten men themselves just before the break when Ben Harrison was sent off for reacting to a challenge from Rylands’ Ben Howard.

Darren Davies’ side stepped up the intensity in the second half and got their noses in front when Ryan Wan’s superb low drive found the bottom corner.

Malpas built pressure and were awarded a second penalty with just four minutes left and this time, France could not keep it out.

Rylands were reduced to nine men when Howard was booked for a second time, but they held on for a point ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Rudheath Social.

Eagle Sports’ visit to Rudheath and Greenalls’ trip to Knutsford both fell foul of the poor weather.

Eagle, unbeaten in their last three league games, face the tough prospect of a home clash with high-flying Wythenshawe Town on Saturday.

In League One, Daten’s game at Middlewich Town went ahead and they returned with a 3-2 victory to make it six games unbeaten in all competitions.

Ross Dryden, Michael Leigh and Adam Campbell were the scorers for the visitors.

Moore United picked up an impressive win at League Two leaders Windle Labour, with goals from Liam Edwards and Jordan Murphy ensuring a 2-1 victory.
