ATHLETES in Warrington Athletics Club colours collected nine medals during the Cheshire Road Relays Championships in Northwich on Saturday.

There were victories for the under 17s and under 11s girls, both mentioned above for their performance during the North West Counties event in which the county races were incorporated.

Melissa Boyer, Lauren Goddard and Isabelle Trevithick – seventh in the overall rankings – made it a Warrington one-two in the former.

Silver medals also went to the under 13s girls, under 15s and under 17s boys.

Eva Ferris, Ashley Nemits and Rebecca Nixon were Warrington’s representatives in the youngest of those age groups.

Isaaq Ataullah, Joe Buckley and Jordan Jones ran for the under 15s boys.

For the under 17s boys Daniel Fox, Jack Sturridge and Sam Rostron took silver.

India Hayes led an under 15s girls trio, which also included Olivia Doodson and Lucia Meloni, to seventh in the overall standings.

That was enough to secure bronze against their rivals from across Cheshire.

A second under 13s girls’ team, made up of Orla Gregory, Maisie Bell and Jasmine Jones, were third too.

A senior men’s quartet, with Chris Fance, Jack Green, Nick Jones and Andy Green – Jack’s dad – on duty, also classified third in the county rankings.

They were 10th overall.

Jones ensured he matched the medal-winning feats of his children by running the third fastest leg among Cheshire athletes, timing 23mins.
