Latchford Albion 52 Hindpool Tigers 24

A DRAW against lowly Chorley Panthers on Saturday would be sufficient to earn Latchford Albion the right to promotion.

They need only a point at Victoria Park Stadium, kick off 2.30pm, to stretch beyond the reach of third-placed Golborne Parkside and seal second spot in North West Men’s League Division One.

Albion, who invite supporters to cheer them to their goal, closed in on the success with victory over Cumbrian side Hindpool Tigers.

A great team try, started and finished by Connor Muir, capped a first half in which Latchford assembled a 22-6 cushion.

Two tries from Dave Levenson and a 60-metre effort from his own kick-chase by debutant Owen Nugent contributed.

Scores from Danny Brown, Joe Clarke and Nugent took Albion over the 40-point mark before Hindpool responded twice.

Clarke barged his way across the line and Muir bagged his second try late on to go with his eight goals for a personal haul of 24 points.
