BURTONWOOD Albion staged an impressive second-half comeback to record an 8-4 win over Crosfields on the opening day of the Warrington and District Football League season on Saturday.

Trailing 4-3 at the break, the hosts quickly turned it around through Josh Dixon and Lewis Legge, who added three more goals to secure the man-of-the-match award.

A hat-trick from Matty Colley and a further strike from debutant Tom Wilson gave Eagle JFC a 4-0 win over Bruche, while Lomax shared the points with Avon reserves after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Despite a two-goal half-time deficit, Matty Mairs scored twice to draw Lomax level but, after Avon had retaken the lead, Scott Preston bundled in a late equaliser.

Grange Sports won 5-3 at St Michaels thanks to two goals each from Ryan Wilde and Aaron Lilford as well as a Lewis McEvatt free-kick, while Grange Sports Reserves were beaten 2-1 at Blackbrook.
