GREENALLS Padgate St Oswalds and Rylands could not be separated in an opening day derby as the new Cheshire Football League season kicked off on Tuesday night.

The hosts made the perfect start as Gavin Horner struck to give Greenalls a half-time lead, but Rylands enjoyed the better of the second half and Koubemba Odilon’s equaliser after the break ensured a share of the spoils.

Greenalls face trips to Malpas on Saturday and Garswood United on Tuesday, while Rylands are at home to defending champions Knutsford on Saturday before welcoming Linotype Cheadle on Tuesday.

Eagle Sports could not get their season off to a good start, however, as they went down to a 1-0 home defeat by Garswood United.

They will look to bounce back at home to Congleton Vale on Saturday before another home game against Altrincham FC Reserves on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, in League One, Grappenhall Sports were on the wrong end of a high-scoring game as they were beaten 7-3 away at Lostock Gralam, while Warrington Town Reserves also scored three times away from home but still lost 5-3 at Pilkington.

League Two gets underway on Saturday, with Moore United opening up with a home game against Broadheath Central before a local derby with Orford on Tuesday night.
