JOE Williams is to compete in the National Schools Combined Events Championships in Exeter over the weekend of September 17-18.

The Warrington Athletics Club under 15s competitor booked his ticket when clinching bronze in the North West Schools Combined Events Championships at Witton Park in Blackburn.

Competing in the junior pentathlon, Williams recorded 12.5secs for the 80m hurdles (629pts), 1.64m in the high jump (496pts), 4.95m in the long jump (373pts), 8.62m in the shot putt (403pts) and 2mins 20.5secs in the 800m (444pts) to finish with 2345pts.

WARRINGTON Athletics Club's Janis Norviss was third man over 35 to complete the Lymm 10K Trail Race on Sunday, finishing 13th overall in 40mins 31secs.

OVER 45s athlete Neal Petley returned from injury to finish third in the 400m in 74.34secs and second in the long jump with 4.45m in the Trafford Grand Prix at Longford Stadium Trafford.

Warrington AC clubmate James Webster won the 400m hurdles in 54.38 seconds.

ASHLEY Nemits knocked another five seconds off her personal best when she finished second in the 1500m in 5mins 13.1secs while helping the Cheshire Schools Minors team defeat Merseyside Schools 243pts to 201pts at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

The 12-year-old from Appleton improved her time by nine seconds when winning the Cheshire Schools Schampionships 1500m last month.
