JOSH Herrington leapt to a silver medal in the English Schools' Track and Field Championships.

The under 15s Warrington Athletics Club competitor cleared 1.81m in the junior boys' high jump at Gateshead International Stadium but failed at what would have been the winning height of 1.84m, which would have been a new personal best.

Clubmate Thomas Baines produced a personal best 50.50secs as he finished sixth in the final of the intermediate boys' 400m, having finished second in his heat in 51.52secs.

Fisayo Williamson-Taylor missed out on a place in the 100m final in the same age group.

He finished second in his heat with 11.04secs and was fifth in his semi final with 11.06secs.

Jack Stubbings was ninth in his heat of the intermediate boys' 1500m, recording 4mins 15.43secs, while in the junior boys' race Sam Evans was 15th in his heat with 4mins 33.71secs.

Katie Lowery was seventh in the senior girls' 1500m with 4mins 40.31secs, while Lauren Ferris was 14th in the intermediate girls' 3000 metres with 10mins 24.06secs.
