FORMER Lymm Golf Club junior captain Matt Murray finished runner up in the prestigious Cheshire Strokeplay Championship, played at Prestbury Golf Club.
The Championship was won by Prestbury member James Newton.
In the final round Matt had a best-of-the-day 68 to win the Israel Sidebottom Trophy as the championship runner-up.
Matt is back from his California college for the summer and is following in the footsteps of European Tour playing brother Tom and his father Andrew, who regularly plays on the European Seniors Tour.
n KEN Rustage rustled up a success in the McCusker Trophy.
In the 18-hole stabled played on the home course of the Walton Hall Senior Citizens Golf Society, Rustage secured his win with 33 points.
Behind him with 32 were John Cotton, who was also nearest to the pin, and Jim Salisbury.
