WARRINGTON boxer Nathan “The Wire” Wheatley is set to take his professional career to the next level after winning his latest bout.
The Padgate middleweight outpointed opponent Liam Griffiths at the Middleton Arena in Manchester to take his professional record to four wins from four fights.
The next test for Wheatley comes on August 2 when he faces Sussex’s Lewis van Poetsch.
The fight, which takes place at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester, will be the first time Wheatley has fought a six-round contest having featured in only four-round bouts so far.
The 27-year-old, who has trained alongside the likes of Martin Murray and Antony Crolla, has also seen off Christian Hoskin Gomez, Aaron Robinson and Dee Mitchell since joining the paid ranks in 2014.
