GRAPPENHALL’S away match at Didsbury fell victim to the weather, but back at Broad Lane the seconds managed to complete a five-wicket victory over Bowdon.
Grappers bowler Arthur Pennington made captain Ben Cagna’s decision to field first look a good one as he took 5-47 to dismiss the visitors for just 146.
Cagna also chipped in with two wickets, with one each for Joshua Hayes and Ben Clissold to give the batsmen a great chance of notching the win.
In reply, opener Paul Radage led from the front as he made 50, while wicketkeeper Iain Wright chipped in with 40 as the hosts knocked off the runs with just under ten overs to spare.
The firsts return to action tonight, Thursday, at Widnes in a T20 match before welcoming Davenham for a league match on Saturday.
The seconds face the same opponents away from home.
