A YOUNG Appleton triathlete has won the right to represent Great Britain at next year’s European Championships.
Daniel Harbridge competed in Nottingham last weekend and sealed his place on the British team in the 20-24 age group.
He will form part of the group that competes against Europe’s best in Dusseldorf, Germany next year.
The 22-year-old, who only took up the sport three years ago after being inspired by the success of the Brownlee brothers in the 2012 Olympics, trains with Warrington Triathlon Club and uses the facilities at Orford Park for training sessions.
“I really enjoy the challenge of training for three different sports and combining them on race day,” he said.
“I really encourage anyone that is interested in triathlon to give it a go. You don’t have to be super fit.
“I’m also hoping that my Dad will also qualify to compete in Dusseldorf in his respective age group.”
