WOOLSTON Rovers enjoyed a day in the sunshine in aid of charity as the club raised money for Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

A large crowd turned out at Monks Sports Club to take in the action as Rovers players of all ages showed off their skills.

After the cubs, Under 7s and Under 8s had warmed up the audience, past Rovers players laced up their boots again to take on the current Woolston vintage.

Despite the gallant efforts of the Past side, it was John Fieldhouse’s men who triumphed 48-16 thanks in part to two tries each from Wil Maudsley, Billy Maunder and Justin Becker, who also kicked two goals.

Ryan Brown and Andy Addison also crossed for the Present side, while Dave Patterson, Matt Robinson and Dave Kelly crossed for the Past team.

The club’s Guest of Honour, Warrington Wolves icon Bob Jackson, was on hand to present the Noah Horrigan Trophy to winning captain Sean Conway.
