WOOLSTON Rovers will be looking for a return to winning ways when they travel to face Castleford Panthers on Saturday.

They were edged out in a pulsating derby match with Crosfields last time out, with the 31-28 scoreline helping to move Soap five points clear of Rovers at the top of the National Conference League Division Three.

Rovers face a Panthers side that sit bottom of the table, but head coach John Fieldhouse is wary of how dangerous they can be.

“We have to make sure that they have to wait a t least another week before they get back to winning ways,” he said.

“It is always difficult going to any side in Yorkshire and I am sure that the Panthers will be desperate to put some recent bad results behind them.”

Before the defeat to Crosfields, Rovers had won six consecutive games to catapult them into the promotion picture and Fieldhouse is keen for his side to bounce back.

“There were plenty of encouraging signs in the loss to Crosfields and I am confident that we can get ourselves ready to put in a performance that will give us a great chance of victory,” he said.

“We need to get back to winning ways on Saturday to keep the pressure on Crosfields at the top of the table and to also keep us ahead of Drighlington, who are snapping at our heels.”

Fieldhouse’s side used their weekend off to take part in a Past vs Present match as part of the club’s annual charity day.

ROVERS A will look to follow up their derby win over Rylands when they welcome Fitton Hill to Monks Sports Club on Saturday, kick off 2:30pm.

Danny Forster’s side beat their local rivals 26-10 to record their first win of the season last time out and a win on Saturday will move them above their opponents in the North West Men’s League Division Three table.

“It was great for us to get a victory in the manner that we did at Rylands and we must now ensure that we back that up with a positive performance at home this weekend,” Forster said.

“We have been a bit disjointed so far this season and that has been reflected in the scores but hopefully we can now start to get a bit of continuity.”
