RYLANDS made it two wins from two to stay top of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division Two after a four-wicket home win over Bowdon Vale on Saturday.

In favourable batting conditions, the visitors unsurprisingly elected to have first use of the pitch after winning the toss but they were soon reduced to 11-2.
Spinner Sam Sparks was introduced with the score at 95-4 and he helped to dismantle the middle order to finish with figures of 3-13 and dismiss the visitors for 131.
Rylands were favourites but they lost two quick wickets to find themselves reeling at 2-2.
Sparks joined opener Richard Buck at the crease and he rounded off a fine all-round performance by hitting 56.
By the time he fell, the target was in sight as Rylands won to open up an 18-point lead at the summit.
Another fine individual performance came from the seconds’ Pete Osmont, who was undoubtedly the star of the show as they won on their travels against their Bowdon Vale counterparts.
Osmont scored a superb 114 not out to help his side to 183-8 from 43 overs, but he was far from finished.
He then took 6-19 with the ball to secure a 53-run win for Rylands.
The seconds are back in action at Styal on Saturday, while the firsts entertain Knutsford on Sunday.

GLAZEBURY’S terrible form continued as they fell to a 52-run home defeat to Westminster Park.

Home skipper Ian Black’s decision to field first looked a good one as the Glazebury bowlers put in a good performance.

Sam Stanier led the way with 4-31, while Black himself took 3-16 as Westminster Park were bowled out for just 129.

However, Glazebury’s batting was found wanting as they were dismissed for just 77, with only three players making it to double figures.

The seconds fared little better as they too were bowled out for a two-figure score in their defeat to Sandbach.

After David Nicholson’s 5-36 helped Glazebury bowl their hosts out for 136, he was then the only batter to reach double figures as they were dismissed for just 61 to seal a 75-run defeat.

The firsts welcome Winsford on Saturday while the seconds travel to Kerridge.

APPLETON Tigers got their T20 campaign off to a flyer with an eight-wicket win over Trinity.

After skipper Nat Long got them off to the perfect start, taking the opening wicket before conceded just four runs from as many overs, the Tigers’ fielders were sharp as they restricted Trinity to 79-2.

Appleton made light work of the run chase as Emma Barlow, who retired on 25, and Holly McCurrie got them off to a good start before Annie Rashid and Chris McClean got them home easily.
