COACHING staff from Warrington Wolves handball team have travelled to Germany to see what life is like at one of Europe’s top teams.
Staff visited German Bundesliga side SG Flensburg to get an insight how its academy works and understand elements of its success.
After sharing ideas and plans with Flensburg Sports Director Sascha Zollinger and Academy Director Michael Doring, the Wolves coaches took in training sessions from several of the club’s age group teams before taking in the first team’s game against Weltzlar.
Plans are in place for players from Wolves to travel to Germany to train at the academy, and for Flensburg coaches to come over to Warrington.
Wolves head coach Bill Baillie thanked the German side for their hospitality and said the insight they gained will help Wolves to develop.
“It was a real privilege to meet the academy staff and the head coach,” he said.
“This will give us some insight into how to work towards our own pathway, and develop the club’s vision.
“We would like to thank the SG Flensburg Academy for their assistance, cooperation and openness and wish them good luck for the future.”
