WARRIORS of Warrington swimmer Kathleen Dawson has won a bronze medal at the European Swimming Championships in London.
Former Great Sankey High student Dawson came third in the 100m backstroke final on Thursday evening.
Dawson, who competes for Scotland and Great Britain, broke her own Scottish record with a time of 59.68, beating the time she set in the semi-final the previous day.
She finished behind Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu, who took silver, and eventual winner Mie Oe Nielsen of Denmark.
Dawson has been selected by Scottish Swimming among a group of "Target Tokyo" athletes as potential high performers in the 2020 Olympics in the Japanese capital
This comes after former Newman High pupil James Guy won bronze in the 200m freestyle earlier this week.
