WARRINGTON’S Lucy Glover has been named in the Great Britain squad for this weekend’s International Junior Regatta.

The Warrington Rowing Club sculler, who was a double gold medallist at last year’s Coupe de la Jeunesse in Hungary, will form part of the 33-strong British team for the regatta in Munich which attracts over 2,000 young rowers from across the globe.

The event should serve as a good indicator for Glover and her teammates as they build towards this summer’s World Junior Championships in Rotterdam.

Glover consolidated her position in the team after a series of junior trials that featured hundreds of rowers from across Britain.

Having emerged from the February long-distance trials as the leading junior sculler, Lucy consolidated her position at the latest trials on April 24 and once again finished in first place.

Fellow Warrington rower Ellie Davies also competed and she rose three places to 16th in the rankings after a strong performance.

Meanwhile, six Warrington crews came through qualifying races to represent the North West at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta.

In the Boys J16 Double, the crew of Tom Carroll and Louis Molly put in their performance of the season to date and finished strongly to take another Bronze for the team.

Further medals came for Angus Stewart, who took bronze in the J15 single, and the new J16 double pairing of Rachel Ozsanlav-Harris and Kaya Saccheri who performed terrifically to take a silver medal.

The J16 Quad of Matt Baguley, Alastair Eaves, Connor Guerin and Tom Reed were up against the current National Schools and GB Junior Champions in Windsor Boys School representing Thames Region but they also performed superbly to take a bronze medal in one of the closest races of the day.
